I would like to take this opportunity to ask Parents to add a NAMED sun hat, food containers and drink bottles (it makes it easier for you children to identify their names and belongings.) Could I please ask Parents if they could keep me updated on any details/immunisations that may have changed on their Children’s current enrolment forms?
Our childcare room will be closed for 3pm on the 24th Decmember and return 4 Jan 2010 Christmas Group Fitness Timetable - 9/12/2009 Portland YMCA Youth & Community Services Update - 8/12/2009 Youth and Community Services UPDATE 2009 As 2009 comes to an end, we wish to thank a number of community agencies andorganisations who have been partners or helpers at our various activities, programs and events- Victoria Police, Brophy Family and Youth Services, Glenelg Shire, Glenelg & Southern Grampians LLEN, Portland District Health, Quamby, Headspace, Rotary, Citikidz, many of the local schools and the dedicated and entusiastic volunteers! YMCA Y&CS held many successful initiatives in 2009. “The Shed” provides an alternative education setting for young people who are at riskof, or have disengaged from school, through hands on work with motors. “Get A Taste of This” aimed to increase children’s fruit and vegetable consumption and encourage them to participate in more physical activity by joining local sporting clubs. This was delivered in the form of expo’s. This year saw the introduction of the YMCA Y&CS “Pool Parties”, with up to 300 local young people and families attending to enjoy free activities and entertainment. These were generally held on the last Friday of each term and were aimed at connecting the community....and having FUN! Keep an eye out for the next pool party at the end of JAN 2010.The Year Ahead: 2010 will see us continuing to provide oportunities, activities, events, and programs for young people and families to participate in. An exciting initiative being reintroduced is the development and implementation of Youth Leadership Camps. We aim to develop youth leadership skills in potential young people who will in turn assist with the running of more camps throughout the year, and hopefully become young leaders in our community. We look forward to the possibilities and partnerships of 2010!
